Guy Stevens Callender was born in 1865 in Hartsgrove, Ohio. He graduated with the A.B. degree in 1891 from Oberlin College and in 1892, he entered the senior class of Harvard College. He remained at Harvard until 1900, pursuing graduate studies in economics and serving as Instructor in Economics (1897-1900).
